As creative director, Ian is responsible for developing and managing the community foundation’s brand identity across all touch points including print, video and social media.
Ian brings over 20 years of advertising, design and film directing/producing experience from senior level creative and strategic positions in both corporate and agency environments. Prior to joining Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Ian was the Art Director for 24 Hour Fitness, where he led the creative team and brand strategy; bringing the 24 Hour Fitness brand to life nationally for more than 4 million members across 420+ clubs nationwide. Ian’s years of experience leading creative teams and brand development spans a wide range of industries including leadership roles at Cost Plus World Market and Target (Mervyn’s Division) as well as experience from the agency side with tenures at J. Walter Thompson (JWT), Austin Knight, Halleck and Tambourine, Inc. Clients included Intel, National Geographic, HP, Cisco, AT&T Wireless, Tenet Healthcare and Wells Fargo.
A native Californian, born in Los Angeles and having attended high school in Mountain View. Ian has been an active member in the Asian-American community having served on the board of the Go For Broke National Education Center and is one of the founding members of the Hanashi Oral History Program.
Ian has won numerous awards including the Belding Advertising award, EMA Award for Branding and most recently the 2011 GDUSA American Design Award.
