Silicon Valley Community Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the world, and has approximately 2,100 philanthropic funds.
Created through the merger of Peninsula Community Foundation and Community Foundation Silicon Valley, the new community foundation received its IRS exemption in November 2006 and officially launched in January 2007. Since then, SVCF has granted about $7 billion to charities locally, nationally and globally.
We operate on a calendar year.
To ensure that SVCF continues to be able to serve our community in meaningful and impactful ways, the board of directors has developed investment policies and guidelines that provide for prudent asset management. An investment committee, comprised of knowledgeable board members and volunteers, oversees SVCF's investment activities.
