The San Francisco Bay wetlands restoration measure -- otherwise known as Measure AA on the June 7 ballot -- was the first California ballot proposition to be put to voters in a multicounty region rather than being decided statewide or in one county or community. Measure AA was a parcel-tax measure that required a two-thirds majority to succeed. SVCF put more resources behind it than any previous ballot measure, with staff support, public relations, fundraising and a $75,000 donation to the campaign -- and the measure passed!
"It's hard to get a two-thirds vote in one county, let alone nine, so we were elated," says Erica Wood, who coordinated SVCF's multipronged support as a Measure AA Campaign executive committee member.
