Silicon Valley Community Foundation has appointed three great new leaders in finance and operations, information technology and legal affairs.
In addition to the news last week that Liz Carey has been appointed our new Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations, we are pleased to announce that George Lin will join us as Senior Vice President for Information Technology, and Chanthi Lune has been hired as our first Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs.
“We are thrilled to have recruited such formidable talent to lead us into the future, ensuring that SVCF will be able to continue catalyzing positive change in this region for years to come,” said Nicole Taylor, president and CEO.
Liz Carey will start at the foundation on October 7. For the past five years, Liz has served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF), where her responsibilities have included developing and executing organizational strategy in respect to finance, fund management, investments, operations, trust administration and technology. Prior to her tenure at OCF, Liz served as CFO/COO for the Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay, where she managed daily operations, financial planning and budgeting for the two nonprofit organizations. She also worked as senior manager and director of KPMG’s International Development Assistance Services. Liz’s clients included the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and many colleges and universities across the United States.
Liz is a graduate of Penn State University, where she received undergraduate and master’s degrees in business administration. Her volunteer experience includes serving as treasurer of the San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program.
George Lin will begin work with SVCF on September 16. George is a five-time public company CIO who’s spent nearly 30 years enabling client success in the enterprise/cloud software, semiconductor, consumer electronics and financial services industries. He is recognized as a leader who holistically transforms IT and improves business’ performance through people development, process improvement, and technology enablement. Since 2017, George has served as Senior IT Director at Rambus, where he accelerated the company’s transformation to a software product company. Chanthi Lune will join us on September 3. She is a finance, investment and legal professional with more than 15 years of experience. Most recently, Chanthi was a member of the Professional Outsourced Philanthropic Solutions team at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, which helps nonprofits and other social impact-oriented organizations solve their most critical strategic, administrative and development challenges. She previously served as a finance/administration director for a private foundation in the Bay Area focused on youth development and poverty alleviation. Chanthi began her career working in private wealth management at several Wall Street firms, including Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
Chanthi received a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific, and her MBA and JD degrees from Gonzaga University. She is a member of the State Bar of California, and she previously served as a board director at AC Global Risk.
All of us at SVCF look forward to working with these three top-caliber professionals, and are confident they will help us advance our service to our region. We hope you will join us in welcoming Liz, George and Chanthi to the SVCF community.
