DAVID BURNCE
DONOR ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

David’s work in the donor engagement department involves managing information systems to ensure smooth experiences for fund advisors using DonorConnect, as well as community foundation staff working with internal databases. He enjoys working with colleagues across departments, and does all he can to keep the work day infused with humor. He is also the philanthropy manager for a number of donor advised funds. Immediately prior to joining donor engagement, David was assistant to the president of the Steven and Michele Kirsch Foundation, a supporting organization of the community foundation.

Before working in philanthropy, David was employed in the film industry, working for four and a half years at George Lucas’ visual effects facility Industrial Light & Magic. He also spent time freelancing in Los Angeles, reading in-development screenplays and writing reports on their strengths and weaknesses for the executives at a large production company.

David grew up outside of Boston, and attended Ithaca College in upstate New York. He has been happily living in California since 1999. He is an avid movie buff and all-around enthusiast of quality pop culture. Recent obsessions in this realm include Lost, The Sopranos, the Harry Potter novels, the music of The Decemberists, the Lord of the Rings films and all things Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
